Science week 2017 March 27-31

The last week before Easter was our Science week.  Each morning, the children moved around the school and spent time with different teachers.  The topics the children learnt about included light, colour, camouflage, forces, electricity, recycling, plants and our bodies.  On Wednesday we were fortunate enough to have a visit from the Astronomy Roadshow.  All the children had a chance to go in the mobile planetarium and find out about space and the night sky.  On Thursday there was a “Hunt the Scientist” competition where children in the juniors found out about some famous inventors and discoverers.

Nursery’s Marvellous Mark Making Workshop!

On Friday 24th March, we held our first mark making workshop! Lots of parents came along to see how we are developing our mark making skills as early writers.

We had gross motor activities, such as throwing painted cotton balls at a piece of paper (or the window), which help us develop muscle strength from the top of our arm.

We had fine motor activities, such as pipettes and coloured water, to develop the strength of the muscles in our hands.  We also had opportunities to practice writing our own names, as well as opportunities for purposeful writing in Ladybirds’s Cafe and Bumblebees’s Post Office.

We all had great fun! Thank you to everyone who came.
