PE and Sport Premium Funding for Primary Schools
Primary schools receive an amount of money each year, to making additional and sustainable improvements that further improve our participation in extra-curricular sport and to drive standards and progress in curriculum PE lessons. The government is spending over £450 million on this funding over the 3 academic years 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1-6. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £8000 and an additional payment of £5 per pupil. For the academic year 2015/2016 Keston Primary School received £9,775.
At Keston we are using the funding to develop excellence and enjoyment in a range of sport; giving the children a wide range of high quality sports coaching and opportunities to take part in a range of competitive sporting activities. Keston takes part in a number of local borough competitions, such as netball, football, cross country and swimming, giving the children an opportunity to represent their school. We also arrange further tournaments and fixtures with the other primary schools within our cluster and the Local Authority such as the Croydon and cluster athletics events.
